While it is indeed true that these expensive procedures are some of the most effective scar removal options available to us at this time, it is not something that is available to most people especially those who make up the mid-income segment of the population. The good thing is that there are a bunch of alternative routes that the mid income person can take.

However, before we provide more details about these effective and financially “reachable” methods, let us first learn more about the methods that do not work regardless of whether they are cheap or not.

There are a ton of products, methods and procedures out there that are easily accessible by the average person but unfortunately, most of them are bogus and do not provide any clinical proof as far as their scar treating claims are concerned.

Creams based on vitamin E – there are just many many products in the market today that are based on this vitamin and claim to be a good tool versus skin scarring. Unfortunately, though, scientific facts point to an unfavorable proof that these products are not effective in what it claims to do. Furthermore, they may even cause bad effects in that they could cause allergic reactions about 30% of the time. One benefit that vitamin E provides is that it is a good moisturizer but it does nothing to help get rid of scarring.

Products based on onion extracts – there are products in the market that present scar reduction solution through the use of onion extracts. One such product is known as Mederma. However, studies have shown that these products are no more beneficial to scars as any petroleum lubricant that you can buy in any grocery or drug store. Studies have shown that it does nothing to reduce or heal scars but the good thing is, compared to vitamin E creams, onion extracts based creams does not cause allergic reactions.

Other products derived from natural stuff such as cocoa butter, aloe vera, lime juice, cucumber are similarly being sold out there to be a substitute solutions to scarring troubles but neither of them have been tested clinically to prove their claims.

Products that offer effective scar treatment without breaking the bank are products that has silicone in them like silicone sheets and creams (more effective when used in conjunction with each other). This products have been clinically shown to be good in improving or removing scar tissues, even with keloids or hypertrophic scar tissues. This is backed up by scientific clinical trials and is considered as the standard in scar treatment today.

Silicone sheeting is ideal as it is not invasive and is quite painless and most especially, relatively cheaper compared to other options that work. This technique is even more effective if used early in the wound healing process and is a well accepted method in treating burn injuries.

Curing or improving scars does not need to be costly and invasive likesome cosmetic surgery methods. There are now ways you can get effective treatment without paying dearly for it through scientifically proven methods or products.
