The Game Tester profession is growing extremely fast. As franchises expand there is an increasing demand for testers, game companies do not want to market bad games. At first glance this career may seem like a dream come true, but it is still a job and not all of it is fun and games.

The main duty of a game tester is to record any discrepancies in the game; glitches, bugs, crashing… Etc. Tough some flaws are easy to catch, some require an analytic eye. For this reason, testers must have adequate experience in computing. Larger games have more testers, so each individual tester should check to see if a glitch has been previously reported. Regression testing is when a tester confirms that, after a bug has been reported fixed, it doesn’t return.

Testers do not need to be brilliant game players. It helps to be somewhat capable, but is not needed. This is because new gamers tend to have slightly more insightful perspectives. Even so, the skills of a good gamer would be valuable as well.

Pay for this job is not very high. Pay by the hour is typically around $10-$13 an hour. A survey claimed that the average annual earning came to $39,063. Obviously the further you go with this job, the more likely you will be better paid. Experienced testers can make up to $70,000 a year. Sometimes bonuses are offered for each bug found by a tester.

Game testing is a very specialized career choice and in very high demand. This means that if you follow it, there is a good chance you will go far in this field. Game testing jobs do not generally require a college diploma but call for an analytic and thoughtful eye.
